This is a dynamic at play in our society that I've noticed as well...it really is disheartening to see just how little respect youth in our culture show towards authority. It seems as if Americans are so afraid of authoritarianism that they often refuse to respect any kind of authority, period.

Odd that I've taught for the past thirty years at three NY area law schools and never seen any such behavior.
