Your list of pathologies is narrowly focused on sexual ethics, and overstates the pathologies you do list. You omit the bullying of MAGA, racism, militarism, xenophobia, idolizing guns, high incarceration, low support for families, education, and health care.
And you ignore our failure to take a global and compassionate approach to the climate crisis.
Western liberalism in general - and America in particular - has accomplished so much and unleashed so much human dynamism. But a civilisation built on liberal individualism (perhaps like all civilisations) has a tragic element....as in the seeds of its demise were there in its beginning. All the good our nation has done, you say? We were the first to begin to reap the huge profits of the new world in spite of the moral teachings against both slavery and unrestricted greed. And why not? We'd managed to hamstring the influence of Christianity with our clever 'separation of church and state,' a word dodge that has served well ever since, recently, for example, that abortion is 'health care.' We were open for business. And we passed our sickness on to other nations old and new in short order. Atheism is the illness, masked by a vague reference now and then to 'god.' Some nations and some sciences are groping well toward the cure. Ours is not one of them. We go deeper and deeper into hell.
